Cookie policy

1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites store in your browser. They allow sites to remember preferences, maintain active sessions and collect usage data.
LocalGuard does not rely on marketing cookies or advertising profiles. It only uses essential storage for the website to work correctly and, if you authorize it, optional analytics to measure aggregate usage of the public site.
2. Cookies we use
2.1 Essential cookies (localStorage)
These cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function. They do not require consent:
- lg_language: Stores your language preference.
- lg_theme: Stores your visual theme preference (light/dark).
- lg_cookie_consent: Records your consent decision so you won't be asked again.
These keys are stored in localStorage and are not transmitted to any server.
2.2 Analytics cookies (optional)
Only activated if you accept the measurement category in the consent banner:
- _ga / _ga_*: Google Analytics 4 cookies that anonymously identify sessions and aggregate browsing data.
If you don't accept analytics, these cookies are never installed and the Google script is never loaded.
2.3 Cookies we do NOT use
LocalGuard does not use advertising, remarketing, commercial tracking, social media or third-party profiling cookies. We do not sell or share data through cookies.
3. Google Analytics 4
When analytics is enabled, LocalGuard loads Google Analytics 4 with restrictive settings and no advertising categories. This integration helps detect navigation issues and understand which parts of the public site receive the most usage.
- Provider: Google LLC / Google Ireland
- Data collected: Pages visited, interaction events and aggregate technical context (browser, device).
- Loading: Only after explicit user consent.
- Retention: 14 months (GA4 default setting).
More information in Google's privacy policy.
4. Legal basis
- Essential cookies: Exempt from consent as they are strictly necessary for service delivery (art. 22.2 LSSI and recital 25 of the ePrivacy Directive).
- Analytics cookies: Require prior consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
5. Manage your preferences
You can update your cookie preferences at any time. If you withdraw analytics consent, Google Analytics cookies will stop being activated on subsequent visits.
You can also delete cookies manually from your browser settings.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable regulations. The 'last updated' date at the top of this document indicates when the last revision was made.
