Last updated: March 25, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using the website localguard.pro, creating an account, downloading the software or subscribing to any plan, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (hereinafter, «Terms»). If you do not agree with any of these Terms, you must not use the service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the «User») and LocalGuard (the «Provider»). We recommend reading them carefully before using any functionality of the service.
2. Definitions
- «LocalGuard»: the entity that develops and maintains the software and the website localguard.pro.
- «Service»: all software, documentation, updates and support provided by LocalGuard, including the website, API, admin panel and device agents.
- «User»: any natural or legal person who accesses the website, creates an account or uses the software.
- «Core»: the backend server component written in Go that runs the core system logic.
- «Agent»: the client software installed on Windows or Android devices to report activity to the Core.
- «Panel»: the web-based administration and monitoring interface accessible from the browser.
- «Local network»: the User's home or business network infrastructure where LocalGuard is deployed.
3. Service description
LocalGuard is an open source parental control system designed to run entirely within the User's local network. The service includes the following components:
- Core: Go backend server with REST API, SQLite database and DNS filtering logic.
- Web panel: React interface for configuring rules, schedules, devices and viewing activity.
- Windows Agent: native binary installed as a service that reports network activity and processes.
- Android Agent: lightweight binary for mobile devices with reporting functionality.
The service is deployed via Docker Compose on hardware owned by the User. LocalGuard does not host User data on its servers, except for the minimum account data required for authentication and billing.
4. Registration and user account
To access the full features of the service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password. By registering, you represent that:
- You are at least 18 years old or have the authorization of a legal guardian.
- The information provided is truthful, complete and up to date.
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
- You will immediately notify LocalGuard of any unauthorized use of your account.
LocalGuard reserves the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms, remain inactive for more than 12 consecutive months, or are used fraudulently.
5. Plans and pricing
5.1 Free plan (trial)
Every new user enjoys a 7-day trial period with full access to all features without needing to enter payment information. After the trial period, access is limited to a reduced number of devices according to the conditions in effect at any given time.
5.2 Pro plan
The Pro plan costs €4.99 per month per managed device. It includes unlimited access to all features, software updates, email support and early access to new features. Billing is monthly through Stripe.
5.3 Enterprise plan
For educational organizations, businesses or deployments of more than 50 devices, a custom plan is available with volume pricing, priority support and service level agreements (SLA). Contact [email protected] for a quote.
Prices shown do not include applicable taxes (VAT or other local taxes). LocalGuard reserves the right to modify prices with a minimum of 30 days' notice. Price changes will not affect the current billing period.
6. Billing and payments
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. LocalGuard does not store credit or debit card data on its systems. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize LocalGuard to make recurring charges to your registered payment method.
- Charges are made monthly on the same day of the month the subscription started.
- In case of payment failure, Stripe will make up to three automatic retries within the following 7 days.
- If all retries fail, the subscription will be automatically suspended and access will be reduced to the free plan.
- Invoices are automatically sent by email and are available in the user's control panel.
The User is responsible for keeping their payment information up to date. LocalGuard is not responsible for service interruptions caused by payment failures attributable to the User or their bank.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the settings section of your control panel. Cancellation has the following conditions:
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to paid plan features until that date.
- No refunds are issued for unused fractions of a month, except in exceptional cases at LocalGuard's discretion.
- Upon cancellation, your configuration data (rules, schedules, devices) is retained for 90 days in case you wish to reactivate. After that period, it may be deleted.
If you believe you have been incorrectly charged, you can request a review by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of the charge. LocalGuard will review each case individually and, if warranted, will issue a full or partial refund.
8. Acceptable use
You agree to use LocalGuard responsibly and in accordance with applicable law. In particular, the User agrees to:
- Use the service only within your own home or business network and for lawful purposes.
- Ensure that all supervised users (especially minors) are aware of the existence of the parental control system, to the extent required by local law.
- Not use the service to monitor people without their knowledge or consent where prohibited by law.
- Not attempt to access third-party systems, networks or data using LocalGuard as a tool.
- Not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble components of the service beyond what is permitted by the applicable open source license.
- Not use the service to send spam, conduct denial-of-service attacks or any illegal activity.
Violation of these obligations may result in immediate account suspension without right to refund, without prejudice to any legal actions that may apply.
9. Expressly prohibited uses
Without limiting the provisions of the previous section, the following are expressly prohibited:
- Redistributing, reselling or sublicensing the service under a different brand without written authorization from LocalGuard.
- Using the service to monitor employees without complying with applicable labor and data protection regulations in each jurisdiction.
- Modifying the software to circumvent free plan limitations or to avoid paying the subscription.
- Using the LocalGuard API to build a competing service without prior authorization.
- Sharing account credentials with third parties or allowing unauthorized persons to access the account.
10. Intellectual property
The LocalGuard source code is publicly available on GitHub under the license specified in the official repository. This license defines the rights and restrictions for use, modification and redistribution of the code.
The name «LocalGuard», the logo, interface designs, original documentation and all associated graphic material are the intellectual property of their creators and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. They may not be used, reproduced or modified without express written authorization.
Code contributions made by third parties to the official repository are governed by the Contributor License Agreement (CLA) in effect at any given time.
11. Data and privacy
LocalGuard processes two clearly differentiated categories of data. Account data (email, preferences, billing information) is stored on LocalGuard servers and is subject to our Privacy Policy. Network activity data (visited domains, applications, usage times) is processed exclusively within the User's local network and is never transmitted to external servers.
The User is solely responsible for the processing of locally processed network activity data. This includes the obligation to inform household members, comply with applicable data protection regulations and maintain the security of their local infrastructure.
For complete information about the processing of personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.
12. Service availability
LocalGuard is committed to maintaining the website and cloud services (authentication, updates, billing) available with a target monthly uptime of 99.5%. However, interruptions may occur due to:
- Scheduled maintenance, which will be notified at least 48 hours in advance when possible.
- Unforeseen technical incidents, third-party infrastructure failures (hosting, DNS, CDN) or security attacks.
- Urgent security updates requiring immediate service restart.
The operation of locally deployed software (Core, agents) does not depend on the availability of the LocalGuard website. Once deployed, the system operates autonomously within your network.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided «AS IS» and «AS AVAILABLE», without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. LocalGuard does not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or that it will meet your specific expectations.
In particular, LocalGuard does not guarantee the total effectiveness of DNS filtering, as the underlying technology has inherent limitations (use of DNS over HTTPS by applications, VPNs, etc.). The User accepts that no parental control system can be 100% effective.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LocalGuard's total aggregate liability to the User for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the service shall not exceed the total amount paid by the User in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. In no event shall LocalGuard be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages of any nature.
- Loss of profits, data, reputation, business opportunities or expected savings.
- Damages arising from service interruption, loss of configuration or filtering failures.
- Actions of third parties, including unauthorized access to the User's local network due to security failures beyond LocalGuard's control.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal basis of the claim (contract, tort, negligence or otherwise) and even if LocalGuard has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
15. Indemnification
The User agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless LocalGuard, its developers, contributors and agents from any claims, demands, damages, costs or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from the User's use of the service, violation of these Terms or infringement of third-party rights.
16. Third-party services
LocalGuard integrates or may integrate the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own terms and privacy policies:
- Stripe: payment processing and subscription management. Subject to Stripe's Terms of Service (https://stripe.com/legal).
- Google Analytics 4: optional web analytics, only with prior User consent. Subject to Google's Terms of Service (https://policies.google.com/terms).
- Cloudflare: DDoS protection, CDN and SSL certificates for the website. Subject to Cloudflare's Terms of Service (https://www.cloudflare.com/terms).
LocalGuard is not responsible for the operation, availability or policies of these third-party services. Use of such services is subject to the User's acceptance of their respective terms.
17. Suspension and termination
LocalGuard reserves the right to suspend or cancel your account and access to the service, with or without prior notice, in the following cases:
- Violation of any of these Terms or applicable law.
- Fraudulent use of the service or payment systems.
- At the request of a competent judicial or administrative authority.
In case of termination, you will lose access to your account and paid features. Configuration data will be retained for 90 days unless you request early deletion. Termination does not exempt the User from payment of amounts owed up to the date of termination.
18. Modifications to terms
LocalGuard reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Modifications will be notified at least 30 days in advance by email to the address registered on your account and/or by prominent notice on the website.
Continued use of the service after 30 days from notification constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree with the modifications, you must cancel your account before they take effect.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Spanish law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules that may apply in the User's jurisdiction of residence.
For the resolution of any dispute arising from these Terms, the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of Málaga, Spain, expressly waiving any other jurisdiction that may correspond. However, if the User qualifies as a consumer under applicable regulations, they may resort to the courts of their domicile.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is declared invalid, void or unenforceable by a competent court, such provision shall be deemed severed from the remaining Terms, which shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be replaced by another that, being valid, most closely approximates the economic and legal intent of the original provision.
21. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and any specific subscription agreement, constitute the entire agreement between the User and LocalGuard regarding the use of the service, and supersede any prior agreement, communication or proposal, whether oral or written.
22. Contact
